St.
Andrew’s has a string of luminaries who graduated from this college and are
excelling themselves in all walks of life. Who among the educated ones doesn't
know about the legendary writer Munshi Premchand, who did his education
from St. Andrew’s. And so is the numero uno in Urdu Shayari Raghupat Sahay
Firaq Gorakhpuri. Falling in the same category is the great critic, poet and
Shayar Majnoo Sahib, who sadly moved to Pakistan after the partition. They
are one among the biggest names in their respective fields.
Mr.
R.C. Tripathi, a St. Andrewite, is a member of Indian Railway Board while
Mr. Jai Shanker Pandey has been the Justice of Calcutta High Court.
In the field of politics too, this college has the privilege of producing top-notch
politicians, notable among which are the former Member of Parliament Sri Kalpanath
Rai & Sri Ashtabhuja Shukla and legislative assembly members Late Ravindra
Singh, Shri Awadhesh Narayan Srivastava & Sri Ganpat Singh.
And not everybody knows that the writer of the Oscar nominated Indian movie ‘Lagaan’
K.P.Saxena is also a pass out of this college.
And
none other than our Governor Shri Vishnu Kant Shastri is also an aluminae
of St. Andrew’s College.
In the prestigious Civil Services we have
always had a selection. Few are in touch with us such as Mr. N.N.Upadhyay,
a senior IAS, who is a product of this college as well as Mr. D.N.Singh,
Assistant Sales Tax Commissioner, Delhi.
St.
Andrewite K.K. Srivastava is a well known entrepreneur presently owning
Agro Paper Mills Ltd. And Swatantra Bharat daily newspaper.
These are just
a few names and we are still evolving leading graduates/post graduates, research
scholar etc. at a heady pace who do their city and country proud every year.
In
this context, it becomes necessary to outline the superb facilities in the field
of R&D. Small wonders many research papers and articles have been published
in Journals of high repute in India and abroad.
Apart from the field
of study, in sports this college has carved its own niche on the national front.
Recently, it secured the top spot in Scouting/ Rangers/Rovers contest.
Each
Inter-University team has several players from St. Andrew’s.Moreover, Gorakhpur
Cricket Association has a big base in this college, with the honorable Principal
Dr. J.K.Lal as its Chairman in the present time.
